Emerging Migration Dynamics: Implications for Public Health Systems and Disease Management in Times of Crisis
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
In the context of the geopolitical, social, and economic changes that characterize our time, migration patterns have taken on new forms and dimensions. Today, mass migration is no longer a rare or localized phenomenon but a global event affecting millions of people, posing unprecedented challenges for public health and disease management. In particular, the impact of migration on already fragile healthcare systems, often exacerbated by periods of crisis, raises critical questions on how to ensure access to care and prevent the spread of diseases. The interactions between migrants, host communities, and healthcare infrastructures require special attention to understand emerging health risks, protect the most vulnerable, and implement inclusive and effective healthcare policies.
This special issue aims to explore the new paradigms of modern migration and its implications for global health systems, with particular emphasis on healthcare management during times of crisis. We will examine the main challenges migrants face in relation to health, the responses of healthcare systems, as well as strategies for the prevention and control of infectious diseases in a context marked by increasingly complex interconnections and growing migration flows.
We invite experts and researchers to contribute their insights on these topics, with the goal of stimulating a global debate and offering innovative solutions for a more inclusive and resilient healthcare management.
